Ostrom adapts to the market conditions. Ostrom still sells electricity at cost and customers remain flexible!

Ostrom remains true to itself. A flexible tariff with no minimum contract period and 100% green energy. We continue to sell electricity at the purchase price and only charge a monthly basic fee of 6€. Therefore, Ostrom does not profit from the rising electricity prices, as the purchase price for us also increases by the same amount as for our customers.

Ostrom, along with every other provider, is simply reflecting the current energy pricing landscape. The following chart shows, how the price of electricity has changed within a year. While the average price/kWh was still 7,4 cents in June 2021, one year later it was priced at about 22 cents – an increase of 195%.

As you can see in the picture below, the average price/kWh is now close to 60 cents. An all-time high!

Reduced Gas Supply From Russia Drives Up Electricity Prices

One of the main reasons for the rising electricity prices is the reduced amount of gas deliveries of only 20% of the maximum capacity through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Why the amount of gas deliveries is related to the price of electricity can be read here.

If you want to know more about the current gas supply situation, read our blog, where we explained the situation in more detail.
