Mannheim/Berlin, 31.03.2025. The Mannheim-based energy company MVV and the digital electricity provider Ostrom from Berlin are entering into a partnership to provide households with even greater support in optimising their energy consumption with dynamic electricity tariffs. With Ostrom's dynamic tariffs and MVV's energy management system, customers can shift their electricity consumption to times when prices are low - and thus significantly reduce their energy costs.
MVV Energie AG has been offering its customers intelligently controlled decentralised energy solutions for years. This enables customers to utilise the electricity from their PV systems as efficiently as possible themselves or store it for later use. MVV's energy management system has also recently made it possible to optimise consumption through dynamic electricity tariffs. This is particularly beneficial for customers who charge their electric cars at night, for example, when electricity is particularly cheap.
As part of the cooperation, the Ostrom offer for dynamic electricity tariffs will be integrated into MVV.Beratung. MVV customers not only receive comprehensive information on the benefits of dynamic tariffs, but can also take out an Ostrom tariff directly.
‘We are delighted about the cooperation with Ostrom, because the intelligent control with the MVV Energy Manager and the dynamic tariffs can save our customers several hundred euros a year on their electricity bills,’ reports Silvia Fischer, Head of Private and Commercial Customers at MVV.
According to the Federal Network Agency, around 54 per cent of electricity in Germany already comes from renewable energies. When the wind is blowing or the sun is shining, electricity is particularly cheap on the electricity exchange. ‘To be able to utilise this advantage effectively, consumers need a dynamic electricity tariff that is directly linked to the price development of the electricity exchange. We are delighted to be able to offer MVV an attractive dynamic tariff,’ says Matthias Martensen, founder of Ostrom.
With more than 6600 employees and annual sales of around Euro 7.2 billion in the 2024 financial year, MVV is one of Germany's leading energy companies. At the centre of its activities is the reliable, economical and environmentally friendly supply of energy to industrial, commercial and private household customers. The company covers all stages of the energy industry value chain: from energy generation, energy trading and energy distribution to the operation of distribution grids through to sales, the environmental energy business and the energy-related services business. As a pioneer of the energy turnaround, MVV has committed itself to a strategic approach with its Mannheim Model, with which it will be one of the first energy companies in Germany to become #climatepositive by 2035. MVV is consistently focusing on the heating energy turnaround, the electricity turnaround and the associated expansion in renewable generation methods, as well as on green customer solutions. www.mvv-energie.de
